Quickbooks 2012 Server App For Mac
Hey all, I found an article discussing a very similar issue, but I am unsure of whether the Quickbooks Server Application was being used in that instance -- So here is the situation. MAC - Quickbooks - Quickbooks Server I have 3 people that need to be able to access quickbooks company file - We set up the company file with the QB Server App.
+ this lets all users on same network access that file *this part works fine* The problem I am having is when i go to another network and VPN to the network where the QB server is. I am able to VPN fine ( i also have internet routing enabled). - Once I VPN - I can *Connect to Server* and enter the IP address of the mac-mini and get into it, but that doesn't help me. I need to be able to VPN into the office network and have the 'Shared Files' section of my Quickbooks Application find the shared file from the QB server on that same network. I agree with the others about VPN being an issue with Quickbooks. The way they made it the whole damn file has to be pulled over and opened, which can cause serious problems over the Internet. You may want to look at their online versions. But, as for the part I quoted above - once you connect via VPN you still need to configure your machine to see the share, just as you would if the machine was connected to the LAN.

I'm looking for a solution to allowing Mac's access to Quickbooks enterprise Solutions 12. I have 12 mac users that need to have access to Quickbooks. Quickbooks enterprise as far as I know doesn't have an installer for OSX.

Only 4 of the Mac's are Intel's otherwise I would just use virtual box or any other vmware to install windows and Quickbooks on a virtual machine. I currently have them connect through remote desktop to a workstation that has Quickbooks installed but it's not a very idea solution since I end up having to reboot the host box frequently. If any one has come up with a good way to support Mac clients in Quickbooks enterprise environment I would be happy to learn how you did it. I didn't see enterprise 12 on that list so I'll see what happens. Since using Quickbooks enterprise 3 years now I haven't had any issue that required me to get support (knock on wood) yet.
